Tristan Plumley
Cloud, Infrastructure & IT Security Specialist
Algonquin College, Computer Programming, 2001-2005
What is your role and what do you do?
I currently touch a little bit of everything from high-level architectural platform designs to technical deep dives into the troubleshooting rabbit hole. I manage all the technical delivery contract requirements for both private and public clients. I task resources, deal with escalations and training, as well as provide technical direction. My current technology focus is cloud, automation, containerization, optimization of applications, and DevOps.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I have a lot of interests outside of work. I am currently building side-by side cottages with my brother up at the lake and when the weather is nice, I am out on my motorcycle.
What do you see as the next big shift in technology?
It’s going to be a bigger shift into automation. Everything from Infrastructure management to platform deployment through IaC. Because of the risks associated with manual deployment, coupled with stringent security and policy requirements these days, it’s not feasible to manage or deploy infrastructure without automation.
What is your biggest work accomplishment to date?
I’m so grateful to be working with customers who are willing to adopt newer, better technologies and that I get taken along for the ride. It keeps me up to date. With the speed that IT travels right now, it’s a huge accomplishment to be working with these technologies – Red Hat, VMware, Kubernetes, Cloud SaaS platforms, and more.
What advice do you have for any young IT professionals?
Be hungry for learning. Set up a lab at home. break it, fix it. There is so much you can’t learn in a classroom. Figure stuff out in your own.
What are you looking forward to in the next year?
We are growing our team exponentially in 2022. I’m looking forward to developing our team into a professional services powerhouse in the private and public spaces.
What makes PureLogic IT a great company to work for?
The people. The trust that everybody has. Everybody is super talented. It’s a collection of the best of every category. You can get a lot of things done because you can rely on them.
